Ron and I both had been fans of the live-action movie called *The Thief of Bagdad* from 1940, which was a British film, and a great fantasy film starring Sabu... That was kind of our touchstone in terms of the scale and the kind of adventure we were trying to evoke... it's a big, beautiful, lush, romantic fantasy, and we definitely looked at that as an influence.
