The only movie that ever did that before was Boom! (1968), with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, which was shot on location, and they built those houses on the water. It was this absurd, pretentious movie that was supposed to be art. I just thought that was genius. So I thought, 'What if I tried to do that with filth?'
