Synopsis

Sophie, a quiet and shy maid working for an upper-class French family, finds a friend in the energetic and uncompromising postmaster Jeanne, who encourages her to stand up against her bourgeois employers.

I was especially struck by how he depicted the relationship between the maid and the mistress of the house. I tried to apply the same concept in ‘Parasite,’ where the two housekeepers are from completely different social backgrounds and their conflict escalates over time. I think he would have liked ‘Parasite’ a lot.
