I love those films, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, A Taste of Honey. They're about ordinary people, and there's a certain energy to them that I find inspiring.
We wanted to make a film that felt like those early British New Wave films, like Saturday Night and Sunday Morning... films about young people and their lives, with a real grit.
