Cinema Atlas Connection
There’s a film called Flowers of Shanghai, which is just stunning. It’s entirely lit by candlelight and gaslight. I was watching it again and it reminded me how beautiful that film is, just the light is so rich. We were thinking about candlelight and how to create the feeling of candlelight, but also how to light skin in a way that just felt not necessarily naturalistic, but just very beautiful. So much of that came from Flowers of Shanghai.
